Born near Warrenton, Virginia, Landis grew up in the country with a love for nature and the outdoors. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and then moved to Richmond, Virginia, in 1996 where she resides and works at a financial services company.

Landis has always had a passion for art and creativity, taking art classes throughout her schooling. Her love of painting continued through the years but was interrupted by an injury to the brain that impaired certain functions and took away enjoyment of her interests. The brain has an amazing ability to heal, and two and a half years later, Landis' creativity and passion came flooding back with a force. She began painting again with feelings of joy, excitement, and healing. Her abstract paintings are inspired by the outdoors and aerial landscapes, often with a view of land from a different perspective.

“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.” - Thomas Merton
